I get the idea that the Premier League is bigger than when I left. Along with "soccer" in general.
I would have to tell most football fans (generally foreign and not British, ancestry at least) that we did in fact play in the Premier League.

We've never won the title - even though it almost happened in 1985/86.
That is an uncomfortable fact that we can't get away from whatever way we look at it.

Being quite well travelled feel qualified to give a sensible answer to this one.
Reality is these days we are just another Premiership Club from London and you were the team Bobby Moore etc played for.
Oh and the Green Street hooligan Films did not do us any favours.

I could not support another team, even if we we ceased to exist as a club.

Uninterrupted failure for over 30 years. and home gates of 57,000. A shit season of almost continuous shit and 90% of STs are renewed. We have the whole of East London and Essex as a catchment area. We could easily fill our stadium if the capacity were increased to 66,000 if suddenly we started winning things we could be massive. We are currently a sleeping giant.

Domestic perception means more to me than worldwide, but where do we sit domestically when you consider Leeds, Villa, Everton, Newcastle, Sheffield Wednesday?
What're the criteria for being 'big'? Domestic support would be my indicator and not just those who turn up to the London when we're playing the fashionable sides and rivals.

We are one of the "big 4" London clubs in the Premier League
We suddenly have 56,000 fans when we used to have around 34,000
If I was comparing to a Spanish Team regarding honours and trophys then I would say a Deportivo, Espanyol or Zaragoza.
